This is kind of old but….
I keep forgetting to tell you all about two weekends ago. The insanity began on Friday evening. Our whole group volunteered with Moisson Quebec on Friday evening until 9. We then go home, sleep and wake up the next day to volunteer again (with Moisson Quebec). We volunteerd from 1 until 5 and then we returned to the house to have dinner. We left t 8 p.m to volunteer AGAIN…this time, however, we were volunteering at a camp site.
It took a while to actually get to the campsite because of how ridiculously lost we were. We eventually found ourselves facing a dark, winding road. We proceeded to travel down this road, unsure of where we were going and slightly unnerved by the darkness. However, we soon arrived at a brightly lit campsite. We were told to enter into a giant tent filled with drunken French people. We were also told that we would not be needed as volunteers until 2 a.m. So we watched a french band perform Irish songs for a few hours.
Our mission that evening was to make sure that the campsite was not infiltrated throughout the whole evening; we were unofficial security guards. Not everyone had to guard at all hours of the evening so we did catch some shut eye. The really fantastic part of the evening was when we brought in four or five huge yellow rafts, flipped them over, put a blue tarp over them and slept. On the bottom of the rafts.
The next day, everyone was exhausted so we packed up and headed home to sleep for a few hours. We returned to the campsite at 3 p.m. To go rafting. It had snowed the day before so it was rather freezing on the water. However, it was brilliant fun. My team worked together really well even when we almost crashed into a huge tree branch.
I definitely reccomend rafting when you are running on about four hours of sleep for two days.
:)
